Follow in the footsteps of Most Haunted as we investigate The Gaumont Cinema.
The Gaumont Cinema stands on the site of Toxteths old Picturedrome that was demolished in 1931. The Art Deco building was designed by W.E Trent and was officially opened to the public in 1937. Since opening the building has also been used as a bingo hall and performance venue, entertaining the likes of Cliff Richard and the Shadows.
Paranormal activity include shadows seen around the theatre, and the outline of people sitting in the original seats! There is a story that after it was decommissioned as a cinema like so may around England the Gaumont was then changed into a bingo hall. Allegedly one of the customers died while playing the game and is said she haunts the Gaumont. Also sadly, a gentleman took his own life behind what was the screen wall and he has been seen and heard still walking the area where he took his own life. The rope is still tied to the beam where he was cut down from; mediums feel the area is very active with energy.
Down below in the cellar area a man has been seen and occasionally some past staff has spoken to this gentleman asking why he was there and he has disappeared in front of them !!
